The paper presents the ideas underlying a correspondence between the Dirac geometry and the Connes noncommutative geometry. The first part of the paper gives a review of spin geometry. The second part deals with the noncommutative geometry, in particular the spectral triples. The text is a nice introduction and survey of main ideas of the noncommutative geometry.
