The authors address electromagnetic mass and the anomalous magnetic moment of the electron from the perspective of covariant electrodynamics. The idea of electromagnetic mass is originally due to J. J. Thomson and describes the part of the mass due to the energy of the electrostatic field of a charged particle. The so-called chronon (time quantum) is also calculated in the text and is given in terms of the electromagnetic mass of the electron.
