The authors propose some characterizations of the geometric distribution. The first part of the manuscript is devoted to characterizations based on the moments of truncated life of the form \(E((X-t)_+^n)\), where \((X-t)_+\) is a type of residual life defined as \((X-t)_+=\max\{X-t,0\}\). In the second part of the manuscript, characterizations of the geometric renewal process are presented.
