Summary: Variational principles are established for the partially composite Timoshenko beam using the semi-inverse method. The principles are derived directly from governing differential equations for bending and vibration of the beam considered. It is concluded that the semi-inverse method is a powerful tool for searching for variational principles directly from the governing equations. Comparison between our results and the results reported in literature is given.
