The paper is devoted to the controllability of a second order nonlinear differential equation with noninstantaneous impulses in a Hilbert space. A new set of sufficient conditions is established based on the strongly continuous cosine family of linear operators and Banach fixed point technique. The controllability of the nonlocal as well as integro-differential systems is also studied. In the final part of the paper, two examples are provided. The examples illustrate the applications of the abstract results obtained in the paper.
