The author applies the gradient discretization method with respect to the space variable(s) in combination with a standard finite difference scheme in time to numerically solve the time-fractional diffusion or diffusion-wave equation with Caputo-type time derivatives. Error estimates are provided under certain (quite restrictive) smoothness conditions on the exact solution to the given equation.
