The authors introduce the spatio-temporal Gaussian-Conical-Morlet (GCM) wavelet and study the properties of the continuous GCM wavelet transform. This GCM wavelet is defined in the Fourier space as a product of a bivariate Gaussian-Conical wavelet with a univariate Morlet wavelet. The new wavelet presents very good characteristics in motion estimation and tracking, namely long temporal dependence and robustness to noise, and supersedes of optical flow and block matching. For aperture selectivity, directional speed-capture and spectral recognition, the GCM wavelet outperforms the spatio-temporal Morlet wavelet.
