The paper contains a short (but interesting) survey of some recent results in the metric theory of 3-dimensional polyhedra. The first part of this survey is devoted to the volume of a polyhedron. The second part concerns a generalization of Heron's formula to the volume of a polyhedron. The third part is about properties of polyhedra having given volumes.
