The aim of the present paper is to investigate the link between the moment problem for recursive sequences, the associated Jacobi matrices and the associated analytic functions. By using the approach of \textit{J. Dieudonné} given in [Lect. Notes Math. 1171, 1--15 (1985; Zbl 0665.42024)] and functional calculus, the authors attempt to generalize some classical results by providing simple proofs.
