The authors investigate the problem of asymptotic stability of linear neutral systems with single time delay. Based on the characteristic equation of the system, simple delay-independent stability criteria are derived. Numerical examples show that the obtained criteria allow to prove the asymptotic stability when existing criteria did not work.
