The development of nonlinear waves on the surface of a heavy liquid caused by a moderate widely distributed external pressure force is treated analytically for the case when the liquid is initially at rest. Nonlinear standing waves are shown to exist which possess a finite number of nodes in the free surface, and the frequency spectrum and form of these waves is found explicitly.
