The author determines generating sets (by involutions) of both mapping class groups and their pure subgroups of non-orientable surfaces. One of the most important homeomorphisms on surfaces is the Dehn twist. Other homeomorphisms which are specific to the non-orientable case are the puncture slide for the Möbius strip and the crosscap slide for the Klein bottle. This paper gives a detailed description of them. The involutions of the generating sets are constructed from these geometric homeomorphisms including Dehn twists.
