The author studies hidden-variables problem from the point of view of category theory. In the category of effect algebras, he introduces the notion of indeterministic object as an object which induces a Kochen-Specker-type contradiction. He derives a sufficient condition for an object to be indeterministic in this sense. Using this abstract algebraic point of view, he analyzes the no-hidden variables example constructed by Mermin.
