The authors obtain two limit-point criteria for the nonlinear differential equation \(x''+a(t)f(x)=0\) by establishing results which guarantee the nonexistence of nontrivial bounded \(L^2\)-solutions. The restriction on \(f(x)\) here is just a growth assumption, while that on \(a(t)\) is weaker than previously employed.
