The author introduces a new form of the tau method in which not only the differential equations are perturbed in order to obtain a polynomial solution but also the initial conditions are simultaneoulsy perturbed. The advantages of the new method and its accuracy in terms of perturbations and errors are studied. Finally, tests on some linear and nonlinear problems are reported.
