Plane fields related to vector fields on 3-manifolds (Q1773863)

The paper under review is a collection of results about the geometry of certain plane distributions related to the dynamics of 2-degree of freedom Hamiltonian systems. The material is divided up in four sections. Section 1 is a short introduction. Section 2 contains some important and well known results on the topology of contact distributions on 3-manifolds. Section 3 is a study of contact distributions and related plane fields which appear on hypersurfaces in symplectic 4-manifolds. Finaly the last section is dedicated to the study of plane fields on hypersurfaces which are tangent to such Hamiltonian vector fields.
