A model considering the melting of an inhomogeneous material such as a mixture or solution during modulated temperature scanning calorimetry (MTDSC) is derived and investigated in this paper. Initially the behaviour of the material at micro scale is analyzed. A method of averaging a phase field is used to construct the macro scale behavior and the resulting system of partial differential equations is solved numerically. The results are used to simulate the signal of MTDSC.
