The author considers second-order ordinary differential equations \[ x''(t) = f(t,x(t),x'(t)) \] for which the boundary value problem \(x(\alpha) = a,x(\beta)=b\) is solvable for each \(\alpha,a,\beta,b\) and its relation to functional equations for \(x\). Some illustrating examples (including geodesics) are given.
