The main result of the present paper establishes that if a continuous multivariate function is represented by the sum of arbitrarily behaved ridge functions, then, under natural hypotheses, it can be represented by a sum of continuous ridge functions. The proof combines quite elementary arguments, including the Cauchy functional equation and basic properties of the modulus of continuity and ridge functions.
