The author studies the asymptotics of global measures in \(L_ p\)-norms, \(1\leq p<\infty\), of the estimation of a regression function by a cubic smoothing spline and gives some central limit theorems. The proofs are based on the observation that the variance term of the cubic spline is approximately of a form corresponding to a kernel estimator.
