The author described a general method of construction of sets of mutually orthogonal latin squares (MOLS) from left neofields. The author failed to fulfil his original purpose of this investigation, namely to improve the known values of the maximum number \(N(n)\) of pairwise orthogonal latin squares of order \(n\), but he gave new proofs for \(N(14)=3\) and \(N(20)=4\). Both results were proved by \textit{D. T. Todorov} [Ars Comb. 20, 45--47 (1985; Zbl 0596.05009) and Ars Comb. 27, 63--65 (1989; Zbl 0675.05012)].
