The paper was originally published in CAD in 1973, and now has been republished on the occasion of 25 years of CAD. The authors outline a scheme of generating triangular finite element mesh on polygonal domains with holes. Irregular boundaries and inhomogeneous material properties are admitted. Two examples of triangulated domains are shown.
