A discrete analogue of the spectral problem for a 4-th order elliptic operator with variable coefficients on an rectangular domain is investigated. Dirichlet boundary conditions are considered. For a square grid, the principal part in the expansion of the eigenvalue error in terms of the powers of the step \(h\) is obtained.
