Let \(G\) be a nondiscrete locally compact abelian group. The author generalizes earlier results of Szegö and Grenander concerning asymptotic distributions of eigenvalues of Toeplitz operators on a Hilbert space of square integrable functions defined on the reals to the case of functions defined on \(G\).
