Here the authors give a theorem to answer a question recently raised by \textit{S. G. Gal} and \textit{J. Szabados} [Acta Math. Hung. 59, No. 3-4, 395--399 (1992; Zbl 0766.41005)] regarding the approximation of an \(f \in C[0,1]\) by a pair of monotone sequences of polynomials: from below by one and from above by the other, which do achieve the best uniform approximation rate.
