The problem of computing periodic solutions of autonomous ordinary differential equations is reduced to a problem of minimization on a normal plane using the least squares method. The Runge-Kutta method is used to integrate the differential equation, and the conjugate gradient method is used to yield the initial value of the periodic solution. Numerical results of the Brusselator and the Field-Noyes model of the Belousov-Zhabotinskij reaction are given.
