A new class of string cosmological models with and without magnetic field in the context of a spacetime with \(G_3\) symmetry has been presented. In order to study the effects of magnetic field, the standard energy-momentum tensor is modified by incorporating an additional term due to a magnetic field. The physical and kinematical behaviours of the string cosmological models have been discussed.
