This is a survey of results on monoid rings \(A[S]\) over a unital ring \(A\) that are (right) distributive or satisfy certain related finiteness conditions. In particular, von Neumann regularity, strong regularity, Rickartian rings and Bézout rings are discussed. Results on related constructions, such as skew polynomial rings, skew power series rings and on quaternion algebras are also included.
