The author characterizes the right spread order [which is also called the excess wealth order by the reviewer and \textit{J. G. Shanthikumar}, Probab. Eng. Inform. Sci. 12, 1-23 (1998)] by means of the increasing convex order. He also provides characterizations of the DMRL (decreasing mean residual life) and the IMRL (increasing mean residual life) classes by means of the right spread order of residual lives.
