The second Hamiltonian structure is obtained for the periodic modified Volterra model \(\dot{q}_n =(1-q_n^2)(q^{n+1}- q_{n-1}), q_{n+M}\equiv q_n\), which was proved to be integrable by \textit{M. J. Ablowitz} and \textit{J. F. Ladik} [Stud. Appl. Math. 55, 213-229 (1976; Zbl 0338.35002)].
