In this paper the author quotes an example from \textit{B. S. W. Schröder}'s book [Ordered sets. An introduction, Birkhäuser, Boston (2003; Zbl 1010.06001)] of an infinite product of ordered sets and shows that this product does not have the fixed point property. Thus a problem of Schröder is settled. In the concluding remarks some relations of this example to other problems in the literature are mentioned.
