This paper is devoted to the study of absolutely convergent Fourier series in the metric space L2(G), where G is a compact group. Based on classical results on Fourier series, the authors generalize the Stechkin and Szasz theorems from the classical context to that of compact groups. Finally some applications to the group SU(2) are given.
