On bounds for the monotone-structure reliability (Q1812398)

Generally, it is not possible to compute the reliability of monotone structures and, therefore, various lower and upper bounds have been proposed for determining network reliability. In this paper new bounds are derived and named difference-untying-packing bounds. They constitute a generalization and an improvement of the Oxley-Welsh bounds for homogeneous monotone structures derived in the context of percolation theory. A simple bridge structure is used for demonstrating the quality of the new bounds.
