This paper is in honour of the prominent mathematician Vladislav K. Dzyadyk, Correspondent Member of the Academy of Science of Ukraine, on the occasion of his 70th birthday. The scientific research of Prof. Dzyadyk deals with approximation theory in real and complex variables, differential and integral equations, Fourier series, and others. First, the author presents a general panorama of the work of Dzyadyk and describes this work in approximation of periodic functions with particular emphasis.
