We show that the wave operators for the Stark effect Hamiltonians do not exist when the potential takes the form \(\lambda | x|^{- \gamma}\), \(\lambda\in {\mathbb{R}}\setminus \{0\}\), \(0<\gamma \leq 1/2\).
