A particle simulation algorithm is shown which can follow long time scale evolution of a electromagnetic beams in a plasma, based upon particle and field equations averaged over the rapid laser oscillations. Computational remarks concerning the implementation of the algorithm are given. Test results concerning the Rayleigh spread and self-focusing of the beam are shown.
