A class of symbols is constructed and the continuity properties of the associated pseudodifferential operators are proved. The ultimate goal (to be pursued in a future publication) will be to construct parametrices for operators of the type \(P = D^ 2_{y_ 1} + \cdots + D^ 2_{y_ m} + (y^ 2_ 1+ \cdots +y^ 2_ m) (D^ 2_{x_ 1} + \cdots + D^ 2_{x_ n})\); see a paper by \textit{V. Esposito} and \textit{D. Miserendino} [ibid. 36, No. 2, 295-323 (1987; Zbl 0712.35037)].
