A method for choosing the invariant measure in a semisimple algebraic group is presented. There is described a simple and natural method for calculating the volume of the fundamental region of the group \(SL(n,Z)\) which acts either on \(SL(n,R)\) by shiftings or in the space of quadratic forms.
