Based on the point-force solutions for two perfectly bonded elastic halfspaces and the theory of finite-part integrals, the boundary element method is used to reduce the problem of a planar interface crack with arbitrary shape to a system of two-dimensional hypersingular integro-partial differential equations whose solutions yield three modes of crack opening displacement.
