The authors solve the axisymmetric stress concentration problem for a linear elastic isotropic body containing two parallel penny-shaped cracks with different radii and subjected to an uniaxial tension. They apply the superposition principle together with the Eshelby's equivalent inclusion method in order to determine two stress concentration factors, the (relevant) first kind one and the (much smaller) second kind one which is due to the interaction of both cracks. For the case of a large crack distance, an analytical solution is worked out, and for a small distance numerical results are presented.
