An efficient direct method for the solution of multidomain spectral collocation schemes is presented. It is applied to second- and fourth-order problems. In particular, the block structure of the global matrix is exploited. The performance of the method for two- and three-dimensional problems on an RS6000 workstation and a Cray J-916 supercomputer is examined.
