Comments on facsimile reproductions of explanations given by Riemann to Georg A. Thieme on the foundations of his function theory and Dirichlet's principle. Biographical notes on Thieme (1831-1910), a professor at the Imperial Mining Institute at St. Petersburg. Thieme was one of the first to teach Riemann's theory, and to observe the difficulties involved with Dirichlet's principle.
