Using the global balance equations, the authors perform the dimensionless analysis of a two-phase flow through a sudden enlargement. Two characteristic parameters of the flow are determined: the singular pressure variation, and the irreversible pressure loss coefficient. The proposed approach is applied to a vertical bubbly flow in subcritical regime.
