An integral equation method is used to show the well-posedness of the generalized Love's problem for an elastic anisotropic layer superimposed on a homogeneous substrate. The solution is derived using an iterative technique, and the dispersion equation is obtained by using an appropriate boundary condition. Inhomogeneous layers with various material parameters are considered as examples, and numerical results are given. The author also discusses the corresponding generalized problem for Lamb's modes.
