A model of the turbulent mixing of reagents is presented which involves the coupled integrodifferential equations for the functions that describe the distribution of the turbulent energy and of the root-mean-square value of scalar field fluctuations over different length scales, and also for the characteristic function which represents the Fourier transform of the one-point probability density of scalar field fluctuations. The model is intended to calculate the mean rate of chemical reaction in a turbulent flow in the case of ''very fast chemistry''. A numerical solution is given for the system of equations for different conditions and comparisons with experimental data is made. The possible way of extending the model to the case of a ''moderately fast chemistry'' is suggested.
