This paper presents the results of an analytic solution of the nonlinear equations modeling the flow of a Newtonian liquid in an active viscoelastic tube in the inertialess quasi-one-dimensional approximation near the bifurcation limit on loss of stability. An analytic expression is obtained for the rate of flow through the tube averaged over the period of the distributed self-oscillations. The application of the results to the problem of self-regulation of the blood flow through the vessels of the microcirculation is discussed.
