A theoretical model for optimal multiple machine maintenance policy (Q1820676)

As an extension to the well-known Thompson model for optimal maintenance policy of a machine, this paper examines the problem of multiple machine maintenance when the maintenance resources are limited. The problem is formulated as a multiple state optimal control problem. The concept of control parametrization is then introduced to transform the problem into a linear programming problem. Numerical examples are computed to illustrate some of the interesting features of the model.
