Let f(z) be meromorphic and of lower order \(\mu (<\infty)\) in the plane. If \(\sum_{a}\delta (a,f')=2\), then the present paper proves that \(P_ 0+P_ 1\leq \mu +1\), where \(P_ 0,P_ 1\) are the numbers of finite deficient values of f(z), f'(z), respectively.
