A variational formulation of the problem of equilibrium of completely anisotropic piezoelectric shells is formulated. Using a variational asymptotic method, a system of two-dimensional statics equations is derived for piezoelectric shells. The asymptotic accuracy of the two- dimensional theory constructed is proved.
