The author obtains results on \(\pi_{4n-2}(Sp(m))\) and \(\pi_{4n- 1}(Sp/Sp(m))\), at the prime 2, for \(1\leq m\leq 3\), \(n\geq m+1\), and determines the relevant quaternionic James numbers. The main technique is the use of the Adams periodicity operator; this was also employed by Crabb-Knapp in establishing similar results in the complex case.
